In conjunction with the 2008 Books That Drive the Debate, NCF has launched the Authors' Series. With the Authors' Series, NCF invites authors from the Books That Drive the Debate selection to discuss their book or topics relating to their book in an open forum. The forum can be in the form of a webinar, conference call, or on-site event.

Authors' Series program

Don Eberly, author of "The Rise of Global Civil Society: Building Communities and Nations From the Bottom Up" was interviewed by Arthur Rothkopf, Senior Vice President and Counselor to the President, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Executive Vice President, NCF.

Participants who were not able to attend the event located at the U.S. Chamber headquarters were invited to call into a live webcasted conference call on Wednesday, September 10. Webcast participants also had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session following the interview. A recording of the event webcast is now available for viewing online:

In the News

"As head of Iraq's Ministry of Youth and Sport -- and in charge of Iraq's rejoining the Olympics -- he [Don] was the direct successor to Saddam Hussein's son Uday and developed a keen sense of the terrible things that had gone before.  His is a balanced and thoughtful account of an improvised attempt to make the best of a bad job."
